Why do people dance?

A young student is given a seemingly simple assignment to answer just one question: Why do people dance?

Her search for the answer leads her to the mysterious Viva La Musique Archive, where she embarks on a fascinating journey to explore how culture, heritage, identity and individuality have shaped dance across the world.

Join Refresh Dance as they bring the archive to life, exploring global cultures, generations of movement and iconic moments in dance and pop culture.

A celebration of the diversity of dance and the people, places and stories that have shaped it.

When you go to your performance, why not make a day of it. Read our guide on visiting the Blackburn Empire Theatre.
