Opened as a silent movie theatre in 1910, the Blackburn Empire Theatre is now one of the North West’s finest arts centres, featuring the best in amateur and professional entertainment. Funded by local people and companies, it opened in 2002. The new theatre prides itself on being built ‘by the people for the people’.
They hire the professional theatre and conference facilities to community organisations, performing groups, local societies, dance and drama schools, businesses and education providers from across the North West. They also work with Agents, Artists and touring companies to provide a wide range of entertainment and events of all genres which appeal to local audiences.
They provide affordable auditorium and technical facilities and affordable solutions to ticket sales, marketing and publicity, and sound and lighting services. Because they are run mainly by volunteers both professionals and amateurs enjoy working in the venue because of the intimacy of the space. They are unrivalled in the friendliness, passion and personal service provided by their committed team.
