Acclaimed concert guitarist and composer Richard Durrant celebrates 40 years since graduating from the Royal College of Music and making his London debut at the Purcell Room.

A wonderful live music event for acoustic and classical guitar lovers and the musically curious. Featuring Richard’s original, haunting guitar music including his newly released track ‘The Art of Levitation’.

Indie-classical composer & concert guitarist Richard Durrant will also play music from the High Baroque, the English Baroque and (in a fascinating homage to John Renbourn, Bert Jansch & Martin Carthy) the English Folk Baroque.

Durrant’s intriguingly unpretentious style of delivery should not belie the emotional depth of his music; witness the onstage persona of an informative, friendly stand-up and the playing of one of the world’s most inventive, guitar virtuosos.

Featuring works by Scarlatti, Bach, Purcell, Renbourn, Jansch, Barrios, Turina and Durrant, this concert will be performed on two notable guitars – a Southwell concert guitar made from 5,000 year old English bog oak and the instrument played by Julian Bream on his debut album.
