Christmas Shopping Time in Blackburn
Your guide to all the best places to get your Christmas gifts in Blackburn.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year and part of that is the joy of giving gifts to the ones closest to you. Whether it’s visiting the big brand stores or finding something unique in our special independent stores, we’ve got you covered.
Let’s visit The Mall
If you are looking for those big brands items that have been less than subtly mentioned multiple times already, then your starting point in town has to be The Mall. They will have you sorted for so many ideas, you might not go outside (although we promise you it’s worth it!)
If clothes are top of the list for your loved ones, then bargains can be found at Primark, H&M, or River Island. Looking for something more high-end fashion, maybe head to Flannels or for the more sporty fashionista, JD Sports is probably the destination. Whilst not forgetting that Blackburn is still home to a massive M&S, which will cover so maybe present ideas, not just clothes.
Talking of presents, we think Waterstones is turning into one of the most versatile shops for buying gifts, it’s a long time since it was the home of books alone. And when we mention have a large variety of gifts, then the massive B&M is another must visit store.
Jewellery is always a favourite at Christmas and The Mall is home to many shops covering different price points, from H Samuel to Pandora.
But ultimately Christmas is for kids, so we have to remind you of the fantastic Entertainer store in town. If you are looking for a toy this year, you’ll likely find it here.
Independent heaven
If you’re planning Christmas to be more of a surprise and looking to find something unique, then Blackburn has a great list of independent shops in town and on the high street.
We’ve already mentioned the importance of jewellery at Christmas, so we have to suggest you pay a visit to a Blackburn institution – Ainsworth.
There is a little nerd in most of us, so we are fortunate to have a couple of ace options for you – The Bat Cave and Geek Retreat are both stacked with gift ideas for people of all ages, ranging from graphic novels and action figures to mugs and board games, you cannot fail to surprise.
If you are looking at clothes as a Christmas gift, then we have plenty of choice for you. From the finest cut suits at Pelle Menswear or great fashion items next door at Emporium through to having your very own stylist at Boutique by Vee to help you pick the night choice for that special someone. And if streetwear is more the need, then head to Remix Casuals, where you’ll also find some truly special trainers any sneaker head will love to receive.
So, if your goal is being a little different and you’d also love to support local retailers, then look no further.
Venture slightly further afield
Back to some of the bigger names for a bit, how about a quick trip to one of the three retail parks we have on the edge of town? I bet you didn’t even realise we had that many in Blackburn!
They are home to some of the best places to find gifts for Christmas, from clothes and home gifts at Next, Matalan or TK Maxx, through to the home of more present ideas than you can image – Argos!
Still one of the most popular Christmas present ideas, you’ll find no better place to buy a bike this year than Halfords. They have a great selection and the famously helpful staff will ensure you pick the right one.
Head to the market
If we are looking at combining great local retailers and gift ideas all in one place, then you are unlikely to do better than heading to Blackburn market!
Packed with more than 50 stalls, Blackburn Market is now the biggest market in the whole of Lancashire! Find stalls filled with fashion & fabrics, electricals & homeware, plus beauty products. Jewellery you ask, yep, they have that too. There is even a store dedicated to socks, scarves and hats – just about the perfect stocking fillers!
Just to add to the reasons to visit, you’ll find a branch of the ever popular Exchange Coffee and more food options than might seem possible when you get hungry from all that shopping!
Small gifts and cards
It’s often the little things that mean the most, and that includes a thoughtful card, so lets have a quick plug for the small little gifts that could make all the difference or fill up that stocking under the tree.
Obviously, head to Card Factory or Clintons if you need to buy a special card for someone that will make their day.
Claires is packed with small items that are perfect for the niece or daughter you’ve been struggling to get that final present for. Alternatively, in The Mall you’ll find the ever popular Smiggle, home to a great selection of gifts for that little one, we promise they will thank you.
If it’s more about games, then for an absolute bargain, CEX is a cracking choice. They cover games, movies, and of courses lots of electrical hardware from games consoles to computers – all for a very good price.
